Cress as a test object for evaluation of soil contamination

nowadays.

At all stages of their development people was closely linked with the outside world. But since highly industrialized society appeared, dangerous interference in nature has increased dramatically, it became more varied and now threatens to become a global problem  for mankind.

the Most extensive and significant is the chemical pollution of the environment with improper substances. Among them, gaseous air pollutants: carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide.

alarming pollution of the oceans by oil products and household waste.

a Very broad scope of the adopted soil contamination. As often, there are areas covered with remnants of construction details. In areas of the tank farms the earth covered with a layer of oil, oil. Parts from cars, thrown to the soil, agricultural machinery, under the open sky, and lying just anywhere – all of which is subject to corrosion. In this process, iron, mercury and copper into the soil and accumulate there. Nearby highways in the soil, there is an increased lead content, because of its connection  contained in the exhaust gases of cars.

the Danger of soil contamination is not only in the change of its physico-chemical properties but in the fact that all these metals on food chains can get into the human body.

since I have my own garden, it was important for me to know the condition of the soil. In this connection there is research state of the soil in which we grow the plants then use as food.In biology class we learned that some organisms are very sensitive to changes in the environment and their presence, quantity or characteristics of development we can judge about the natural processes, conditions, and anthropogenic habitat change. Such organisms are called bioindicators.
as a bioindicator in my research I have chosen – Kress – salad. This plant is highly sensitive to soil contamination with heavy metals and emissions of vehicles. Cress has a rapid germination and almost a hundred percent germination rate, which decreases considerably in the presence of pollutants. Also attractive and the short time of the experiment. Seeds of cress germinate at 3-4 day, and most of the questions of the experiment, you can get the response within 10-15 days.

research Hypothesis: the germination of watercress depends on the state (quality) of the soil. If the soil is contaminated, the seed germination is reduced.

Purpose of research: assessment of soil bioindicator – watercress.

"Ecological status of groundwater and the waters of the nearby reservoirs p. Weiyu"

Water is known to man since the first days of life, it is familiar to us. Without water there is no life, so people from all ages and continents invariably deify this element forever as a living spring, which fertilizes another great element – the earth. Water is unique and irreplaceable. It is from 80 to 99 mass% of plants and about 75% of the animal weight. Where there is no water, desert reign, where it is small, rampant drought, and where a lot of it arises devastating floods. The water is vital. It is needed everywhere – in the home, agriculture and industry.

the Problems of the aquatic environment caused not only by natural factors but also human activities. Despite the huge groundwater resources, the drinking water shortage is felt not only in cities but also in rural areas. For example, in half of the water used by industrial enterprises for technological needs. We have, in rural areas, water issues are not so much the increase of water consumption, as the contamination of the sources of various substances of natural and anthropogenic origin.

the Implementation of this work to assess the ecological status of the source gives the opportunity to assess the importance of the preservation of water-drinking resources, prevention of their exhaustion, and rational water consumption.

In our village drinking water sources are river Lapu, stream Wagyu, wells tubular type, located on the streets of the village and domestic wells, as well as, people use  spring water from a spring, in place of the former fuel. But it is not always the water that we use,  clean and then it creates a problem: where to find clean water?

Therefore, the problem of clean water can be considered so urgent, that are prerequisites for assessing the ecological condition of water sources.

The lake outside my window

In his report “the strategy of Water” the President  Vladimir  Putin  said: “Your contribution can make everyone, from the President to first-graders. To do this, simply treat the water, not to pollute the water and the area around them, to take an active part in environmental events. It is necessary to know the characteristics of water in its native region and understand that our rivers, lakes and springs is a unified system. If every citizen will care about the purity of the water on Earth clean water will become more”.

Interactive map of "the Springs of the Komi Republic"

by Studying the data of the water resources of the State report of the Republic of Komi 2018, none of the points mentioned another type of inland waters – springs, and their location and quantity. However, it was clean springs are the sources of fresh water. On the territory of the Republic of Komi springs have long been used by local residents for household purposes. Even now, in many settlements there is no centralized water supply. For example, in the village of Yb, a large part of the population lives in private homes, and only uses water from wells.

the Springs on the territory of the Komi Republic, as an independent natural object, remain unexplored in full.

When studying this topic we found a directory called "the Springs of the Komi Republic”, which was released at the end of competition “Springs” in 2005-2007 years. This catalog has not been presented to the public, thus, information about the springs of the Republic of Komi was not widespread. Therefore, we conducted a survey of residents of the city of Syktyvkar. Among 76 respondents, it was found that most of them don't know their location and value, and those who use spring water do not know about its quality.

Not all sources water quality complies with standards SanPiN. Therefore, the assessment of drinking water values of the springs it is important to have information about water quality in the sources, so it does not become a threat to people's lives.

Our project aims to create an interactive map of springs in the system of the Geoportal of the Republic of Komi geo.rkomi.ru to ensure that the locals knew about the location of springs and the quality of water in them.

we decided to Start with the city of Syktyvkar, as we live in this city.

Assessment of air C. podyelsk kortkerossky district in the needles of Scots pine

Issue: Podhajska secondary school is located close to the boiler room, which is daily during the operation of the boilers emits large amounts of harmful substances.   accordingly, we do not know how dangerous the neighborhood with the boiler and what state  of the environment in its area of influence. During the summer the eco-tourist camp “Maryol" acquainted with the methods of biological indication. Simplicity  these research methods, the lack of  sophisticated instruments and equipment for self-determination of the purity of the air near his home, allows extensive use of  this method Therefore, to solve the problem, has set a Goal: study of the needles of Scots pine to assess the state of the environment and the creation of the booklet with recommendations for air monitoring.

There Hypothesis If  the studied needles of Scots pine in the area of rural emissions of the boiler, it is possible to assess the condition of the air in the village podelsk.

Secondary forest pests

the Project aims to study the influence of insect pests and consequent disease of the pine forest.

project – pine forest near an open artificial channel for drainage and discharge of treated wastewater wfch the JSC «Mondi”.

Subject - stem insects – pests of the forest.

project Goal – the impact of environmental factors on population dynamics of stem insects – pests of pine forests.

the novelty of the project – detection of insects –pests and their impact on the population dynamics of the environmental factors associated with anthropogenic activity of man.

For the study were taken Playground pine forest close to the open artificial channel for drainage and discharge of treated wastewater wfch the JSC «Mondi”. This channel is located at route Syktyvkar – Comodor. Located on the territory of GU “Syktyvdinskiy forestry” and close to GU “Chernetskoe forestry”. It is important to note that there is a comprehensive national reserve “White”, that tells about the significance of the project in terms of environmental activities.

the Left channel is a pine forest, where pine trees are presented in poor condition, namely – many trees don't have bark, needles brown, on tree trunks traces of vital activity of bark beetle.

Therefore, a concerned group of students, the question arose: could it affect its organoleptic characteristics the channel on the population dynamics of populations of stem insects – pest.

Springs village of Ust-Nem

water Quality is one of the most important indicators of the state of the environment that affect human health.

Water on the planet a lot, however, recently highly relevant is the problem of water pollution from industrial ,agricultural and household waste.

the Problem of clean water is becoming more acute on the planet. Shallow river, and the water in them due to domestic and industrial pollutants are not suitable for human consumption. One of the problems in our village is  the provision of clean fresh water . Part of the population uses tap water, part of water of their wells, part  of the population takes water from a spring.

In our village there are several  springs  with spring water. Some are more known and popular, some less, and there are those about which few people know. People believe that it is better to take water from a spring, than to drink the tap water. But  if you do not pay due attention to protection of the purity of springs, the result of human activities, they may disappear.

Assessment of water pollution by microplastics (on example of Komi Republic)

the Widespread use of plastic products, both for production and for domestic use, relative cheapness, ease of production and processing of plastics has led to the fact that this material has become one of the most popular in modern society. However, extensive application of plastic products with a short period of operation or one-time use, long period of natural degradation of synthetic polymers, the high cost of recycling plastics have become because of the huge amount of household and industrial plastic debris.

Research on the existence and content micro-plastic in the water objects of the Republic of Komi are unknown to us. The aim of our study – assessment of water bodies (rivers) in the territory of the Komi Republic on the presence or absence of the micro-plastic.
